Unemployment in the Czechoslovak Republic in the early postwar years (1918- 1925)

The subject of the bachelor thesis is the question of unemployment during the first years of the Czechoslovak Republic, specifically it is the summer of 1918 to 1925. Introductory information about the history of unemployment in the Czech lands is followed by a representation of the economic and social situation of the First Czechoslovak Republic, along with demographic data. Next part is about solving of unemployment, including particular examples where the state put into practice legislative changes relating to the unemployed and tried to find solutions other than the payment of unemployment benefits. Included is the life situation of the unemployed, primarily the problems associated with this situation. One chapter is about the question of women at this time, because there was a significant change of their position in society. At the end of the thesis there is mentioned international cooperation in matters relating to unemployment benefits to citizens of other states, as well as the issue of the so-called "man of the world (světák) ". The main sources of the thesis are in addition to professional publications primarily historical sources from the National Archives and stenographic records of the meetings of the National Assembly.
Municipal policy and the fight against unemployment in Great Depression on the example of Prague

Thesis analyzes the fight against unemployment and its consequences on the example of Prague. It is based on a finding of insufficiency of Ghent system after the beginning of the Great Depression and follows the example of the possibilities and limits of Prague municipal politics as an alternative, addition of state policy respectively. Thesis analyzes subsequent and preventive measures by city and concludes that Prague has been primarily focused on politics subsequent. It is focused on providing kind and later on productive care and deals with setting the conditions for their using. Thesis concludes that primarily benefits system was too multifarious and complicated. And for second Prague hasn't devoted much to preventive measures.
Great Depression in Czechoslovakia - social and political context

During it's evolution social policy has faced a lot of obstacles which it has had to deal with. Probably the biggest obstacle has been so far the Great Depression, which caused a worldwide unemployment of millions of people. Main topic of this thesis is the struggle between social-policy mesures made by czechoslovakian government and mass unemployment of the thirties. Main point is then to evaluate how the Czech politician representatives managed to deal with this difficult problem and if they succeeded to maintain a sufficient social status of unemployed people during the Great Depression. Integral part of thesis is also a description of evolution of social policy during the twenties which is fundamental to understand the following development.

This thesis called "Unemployment during the Great Depression in Czechoslovakia" is based on still current question, which is the existence, growth and support in unemployment at the end of the 2nd and the first half of the 3rd decade of the 20th century. What kind of social system existed in Czechoslovakia during the First Republic? How the situation had changed when the Great Depression came? What impact had the Depression on Citizens and the growth of unemployment? Fundamental part of the thesis studies proposals and concepts of the solution of the complicated situation in the country. What were the proposals of particular parties? Did the worsening situation between Citizens lead to the bigger support of the Communist Party? Had the Great Depression in Czechoslovakia effect to the change of political meanings in the country? I will try to find all the answers for these questions in my thesis.
